Dr Bird’s Advice for Sad Poets

Ham on Rye

Ham on Rye - Charles Bukowski Though it sorta fizzles out, this is a pretty good autobiography by Bukowski. It's filled with the normal Bukowski stuff -- crazy, mean parents, his acne-scarred adolescence, the development of his tough guy attitude, and the heartbreaking moments where he's just a lonely guy. I suspect only Bukowski fans would really love this, but it does stand on its own pretty well for people who only know his name.
